Although G. Neri touched upon this in the book, this additional information helped me to better grasp just what Yummy's home life was like. This then allowed me to better understand why yummy could be so mean, violent, and aggressive. Also, I found Yummy's mother's comments to be interesting. She only has a small moment in the book so it was interesting to read about her thoughts about what happened.

I also think that it was cool how G. Neri used actual quotes from the Time Magazine article in his book. I think it is easy to forget when we are reading that these are real people who knew Yummy and saw first-hand the events that unfolded from Yummy's choices. These quotes helped me to think more carefully about the characters and considered them as sharing real, important insight into this story. However, as a history major I was a little frustrated that they weren't properly cited....just kidding.Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10005222722888602696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5811006075386132347.post-25959173298546788202015-02-26T09:54:33.788-08:002015-02-26T09:54:33.788-08:00Don't keep us in suspense Christina. Give us at least one "nugget" that you found particularly helpful in gaining deeper insight into Yummy's real-life story as well as the way his experiences are depicted in the book.
